Slightly Clive Racing "Unfeasible" is not in our dictionary

Overland travel has traditionally been a complex and long-winded affair, the preserve of those blessed with lashings of free time and healthy bank balances. The customary British approach is to plan for every conceivable eventuality, putting together a detailed itinerary, then constructing a long and imaginative list of things that could possibly go wrong at each step along the way. Special tools, clothes, curious, impedimenta, things, stuff and whatnot are bought in mass from camping shops, complex support infrastructure is formed, and healthy vehicles are taken to pieces to allow parts of them be replaced in case they go wrong.

The Clive Principle seeks to do away with as much of this organisational baggage as possible, substituting strict preparedness for things to go wrong with optimism that they won't. Its approach to the unexpected unfolding of events is entirely responsive, seeking solutions to problems as, when, where and if they occur. Breakdowns and unintentional deviations from the route are viewed not as mishaps, but as an intrinsic facet of the trip. Itineraries are deliberately vague, making it difficult to not stick vaguely to them and extending to the galavanteers maximum flexibility for stoppages, intentional or otherwise.

Slightly Clive Racing exists to vigourously apply the Clive Principle.
