August 10th 2006. SCR sit out a dull and absolutely uneventful day's driving on straight roads through repetitive and uninspiring countryside that looks like Wales ironed flat. They manage almost 800km before declaring themselves too bored to continue.

Note on Russian vodka: It really isn't that nice. Granted, a twenty-pound bottle in the UK costs two pounds here, but unlike Guiness, vodka does travel, and the fact that you are drinking it in Russia does not address the issue of it tasting like medical ethanol and dishwater. Like many things in Russia, it does the job, but is neither inspiring nor particularly pleasant.
