Still lacking any word from the elusive duo, Skip Rats push on to explore the Altay mountains whilst SCR take to a Barnaul bar with Elena, happening upon two seafaring Mongol ralliers in a Bedford Rascal. As they stand about outside Hotel Altay as the Mongoliers book a room, the world's filthiest Volvo erupts onto the scene, grating to a halt with an ethereal scream. Team Brick and Team Tony have arrived sans Ashley, Mercedes, and brake pads. The misplaced team member made it as far as Budapest, the brakes to the Kazakhstan border, and the Tony Mobile to Almaty where it was finally pronounced unbodgeable having eaten its own piston rings. Aside from a lack of stopping power, James' disreputable steed boasts a clutch not long of the world, an unhelpful self-detaching exhaust pipe, a grumpy and retiring engine, and a wide assortment of battle scars. The reunited foursome plus Mongoliers in a restaurant of Elena's recommendation and bore her with a month's-worth of catching up. |
